The Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program (SAOP) offers free, confidential services to survivors of sexual violence, intimate partner and domestic violence, human trafficking, and stalking. We provide Our services are available to survivors of all ages, their loved ones, and community partners working to prevent violence. Below is an overview of how we can help.   • 24/7 Crisis Hotline

    740-591-4266Our confidential, 24-hour hotline is available to provide crisis support, safety planning, emotional support, and resource referrals. Survivors, co-survivors (family and friends), and community members can call anytime for immediate assistance.

    We know that survivors are affected by sexual violence in many different ways. If you are having a hard time and feel like you need support, our advocates are available 24/7 to do emotional support/processing, brainstorm options, and connect you with various resources.

    After experiencing interpersonal violence, you may wish to report to law enforcement authorities. SAOP can provide a trained advocate to accompany, support, and advocate for you during this process.

  • Advocacy & Crisis Support

    Our trained advocates provide emotional support and guidance to survivors at every stage of their journey. We offer:

    • Medical Advocacy – Support during forensic exams and follow-up medical care.
    • Legal Advocacy – Help with protection orders, court accompaniment, and legal referrals.
    • Law Enforcement Advocacy – Assistance in reporting to police and understanding legal options.
    • Title IX Advocacy – Support for student survivors navigating campus sexual misconduct policies.

    We assist survivors with filing for:

    • Victims of Crime Compensation – Financial assistance for medical expenses, counseling, and lost wages.
    • VINE (Victim Information & Notification) – Notifications about an offender’s release or custody status.

  • Child Advocacy Center (CAC)

    The Athens Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly, trauma-informed space where children who have experienced abuse can receive:

    • Forensic interviews conducted by trained professionals.
    • Medical assessments at Nationwide Children’s Athens Close to Home Center.
    • Support for non-offending caregivers to help families heal.
