The Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program (SAOP) offers internship opportunities for students and early-career professionals looking to gain experience in survivor advocacy, nonprofit management, prevention education, and community outreach. Interns play an important role in supporting survivors and helping advance our mission to create safer communities.

Internship Areas

Internship opportunities vary based on program needs and academic requirements. We offer placements in the following areas:

Survivor Advocacy & Crisis Intervention

  • Assist with crisis intervention and advocacy services.
  • Support survivors in accessing resources and navigating systems.
  • Participate in trauma-informed training sessions.

Prevention Education & Outreach

  • Help develop and deliver educational programs on violence prevention.
  • Assist with community outreach initiatives and public awareness campaigns.
  • Support social media and content creation related to prevention efforts.

Nonprofit Administration & Program Support

  • Assist with grant writing, data tracking, and program reporting.
  • Support event coordination, community partnerships, and fundraising efforts.
  • Conduct research on best practices for advocacy and prevention services.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students in social work, public health, criminal justice, education, communications, nonprofit management, or related fields.
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week for the internship duration.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to survivor-centered advocacy.
  • Completion of required training and adherence to confidentiality policies.

Some internships may qualify for academic credit. Students should consult their academic advisor or faculty liaison for credit eligibility.
